Blessings in a Backpack

Samantha Scott, Hilary Duff, Joe Donzelli & Stan Curtis

We had the pleasure of helping our client, Scott Fischer Enterprises, as they announced the visit of Hilary Duff to a local school, Tice Elementary. Duff was visiting to support a non-profit organization – Blessings in a Backpack.

Blessings in a Backpack was founded and is coordinated by Mr. Stan Curtis. Via generous donors such as Scott Fischer and his friends Dana, John, Austin, and John, the organization provides food for less fortunate children at school all over the country. These kids are on free or reduced lunch and take food home in a backpack on Fridays so they can eat over the weekend. As a result, these children are doing better in school because they can focus and learn better when not preoccupied with the knot of hunger in their bellies.

We were pleased to assist such an amazing organization which is so very needed in this school and many others in Lee County (and across the country). Pushing the Envelope coordinated with the Lee County School District and Blessings in a Backpack to put on a press conference at Tice Elementary. We worked with school staff as well as Hilary Duff to get as much as exposure as possible – raising awareness and funds for the program.

The event was recorded and streamed live via The News-Press website and Naples Daily News did video as well. All the local television stations ran coverage – a total of 24 hits in a 24 hour period. It was also on the cover of the Bonita and Naples Daily News papers and the main story in The News-Press’ “Local and State” section the next day. Spreading beyond local coverage, a clip from the local FOX4 coverage even made it onto the Bill O’Reilly show and O’Reilly himself commented on it.
