Pushing the Envelope’s 5th Annual “CAN IT! Campaign” A Success

FORT MYERS, Fla. – November 30, 2015 – On Nov. 25, Pushing the Envelope, Inc. completed its 5th Annual CAN IT! Campaign to put hunger in its place in Southwest Florida. The campaign collected more than 1,500 non-perishable food items for the Community Cooperative (CCI). In addition, PTE staff members donated more than 85 hours on the campaign, 35 of which included volunteering at the Community Café Soup Kitchen.

With the support of many community members and local businesses, Pushing the Envelope, Inc. was able to reach their goal in just four weeks, collecting more than 1,215 pounds of non-perishable food items. As of today, the CAN IT! Campaign with community supporters, has donated more than 5,000 pounds of food to CCI over the past five years.

The success of the CAN IT! Campaign was largely due to area businesses who helped collect non-perishable items. The participating locations included:

CCI serves Fort Myers and the greater Lee County area, providing meals each month through their Soup Kitchen and Meals on Wheels programs. The nonprofit agency also educates 40 children in their Community Montessori Preschool, provides weekend backpacks full of food to more than 2,500 children each school year and oversees a mobile food pantry as well as an everyday choice marketplace.
